Notes from the 2022 Reunion

TUNNY BUSINESS MEETING

19 OCTOBER 2022

New Orleans, LA

 

  1.       Pledge
  2.       Honoring Eternal Patrol shipmates
  3.       Attendance at Archie Clemons’ funeral: Bill O’Connor and Alan Nebola
  4.       Information about the dinner tonight. Dinner is 7:00-9:00. There is a band and a dance floor. We think they take requests.
  5.       Treasury report: We began with around $5000.00. We collected almost $20,000 for fees, tours, etc. Our current balance is $18,000. Booze and snacks was $1200.00. Swag bag: ~$3000. We will end up about $3749 once we pay the hotel for food, etc. When all is said and done, we should have $4479. We had a few dollars over on the cost of the bench. We plan to roll that money into the general fund. Bill moves to put in General Fund. It gets a second. It is so moved. No one objected.
  6.       Bill added that after the previous reunions, they would look at the checkbook, as an independent audit. One of the current officers will conduct the peer review. Motion and second to have the independent audit. Bobby explains that the money is at Navy Federal and can just have a new signature on file if Alan leaves the position. It is a one signature account.
  7.       Steve shares that lots of folks have helped to make this reunion: Bill, Lee, Alan, Jeep, Don.
  8.       Elections: Bobby and Lee are to take the lead on this. There will be 5 offices: President, VP, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Director.
  9.       Bobby: Report from the Nomination Committee:
  10.       President: Jim Dietvorst: Served 1977-81. Was a nuke. RC Division. Designed parts for submarines and nuclear carriers. Retired and volunteers at food banks and at schools. He works for restorative justice. Nomination is closed. Vote by show of hands that he is accepted. It is unanimous.
  11.       Vice President: Elias Quinonez: Served 1990-93. Lives in San Antonio, TX. He works in construction. He is project management on the cable. He is the president of his daughter’s band booster. He was a MMC torpedoman. Move to close the floor to nominations. Seconded and voted on.
  12.       Treasurer: Alan Nebola: current treasurer. Voted upon unanimously
  13.       Secretary: Taylor “Hud” Stukes. 1978-1982. Been secretary of board of several condos. Voted upon unanimously.
  14.       Membership Director: 2 nominees:
  15.     Scott Turner. 1978-1981. Was a reactor operator.
  16.     Tom Jordan was also nominated.1989-1993. He is a moderator for the FB page for both crew and for friends and family.
  17.       Voted for membership director: Tom Jordan had the majority votes
  18.   Locations: San Antonio, TX and Atlanta, Ga
  19.   San Antonio wins the election.
  20.   Tom would like to consider doing a cruise for a reunion. Can someone do a cost comparison for future reunions? The secretary will investigate.
